Note: Bluetooth pairing is currently in beta therefore not all features might be available.
By default during the beta, pairing is limited to 1 device.
Multi connections up to 5 devices can be enabled under Settings/Development/Preview features. Please note that after this the remote needs to be restarted.
The remote can pair with compatible devices as a Bluetooth HID keyboard or mouse. Please make sure to check if the device you're trying to control supports BLE devices.
To get started, open the Web Configurator and navigate to Remotes.
Under the section Bluetooth , click on the big plus icon.
A window will open, where you can give a name for the remote. In this case, we call it Fire TV, as we're pairing with a Fire TV Stick.
You can choose a device profile, that matches your device. If no profile is available or you're not sure what to choose, leave it on Default, as it contains all the available commands.
When you're ready, click on start pairing.
This is a good time to move closer to the device you're pairing with, as you'll have to enter the pairing code displayed. The remote will wait for a pairing request initiated from the device you're pairing with.
Please check your device's user manual on how to add a Bluetooth keyboard or mouse.
On the device you're pairing with search for the name of the remote, displayed on this screen as Advertisement name. Select the remote and initiate the pairing.
Note: Most devices will automatically time out after a certain time.
As soon as the remote receives the pairing request, it will prompt you to enter the pin that is showed on your device.
Enter the pin and click on Confirm. The pairing process will begin that could last to several seconds.
That's it, the remote is now paired with your device as a Bluetooth keyboard/mouse.
Note: Pairing might not always work on the first attempt. If pairing failed, try again. Otherwise switch Bluetooth off & on on the other device or reboot it, then try again.
Based on the device profile selected, we generate a UI layout and map certain commands to the physical buttons. You can change these at any time or reset them back to the defaults.
The user interface for editing the UI and mapping buttons works exactly the same way as with other remote entities with a few additions:
- You can see the connection number of this remote.
- You can see if the Bluetooth device is connected or not.
- You can change the Device profile.
- You can remove the pairing with the device and pair it again without deleting the remote UI and button configuration.
Don't forget to add the remote entity to the UI under the User interface menu in your profile.
